Key Experiences

Pharmacist on the policy & strategy stream in the graduate scheme
I studied pharmacy at the University of East Anglia, Norwich, and registered with the GPhC in September 2017. I joined the policy & strategy stream of the NHS Graduate Scheme as I wanted to understand more about the larger picture of the NHS, and help patients in a way more aligned to my strengths. In University, I enjoyed the law aspects and reading about innovation. I wanted to build on these and saw the NHS graduate scheme as the vehicle to do this.

Current Position

Supporting front-line staff deliver the best with medicines
I am currently working as a strategy advisor in Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health Trust in North London. I am working on a project to understand why medication errors are happening and what we can do to reduce their occurrence.

Main Motivations

Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team
To work on this project, I am working with many different staff from all backgrounds: nurses, service managers, ward managers, consultants, psychologists etc. I'm gaining a real insight into the power of multi-disciplinary teams and how we can work together to achieve more.

Top Advice

Network, network, network.
Networking is a great way to learn outside of your current area of work, and form connections across the system.
